The final report on Stafford Hospital

The ongoing story of a death camp - now we have the excuses report -

"As Robert Francis QC's damning 1,782 page report was finally published and found ‘failures at every level’ which led to the scandal, the Prime Minister revealed that not a single nurse or doctor has been disciplined or struck-off. Patients at Stafford Hospital were left lying in their own urine and excrement for days, forced to drink water from vases, given the wrong medication or sent home with life-threatening conditions. But despite hundreds of people dying needlessly over four years, Francis's report does not blame anyone for the dismal care as problems 'cannot be cured by finding scapegoats or sacking individuals,' he said."

Get that? No-one was to blame. Especially not the bosses, of course. The Mail article continues -

"Current NHS chief executive Sir David Nicholson was head of the West Midlands Strategic Health Authority, which was responsible for supervising standards at Stafford Hospital, between 2005 and 2006. Sir David also helped appoint Martin Yeates as chief executive of Mid Staffordshire NHS Trust even though he had no managerial training. Union Unite said today Sir David 'is not the person to lead the NHS', adding: 'The recommendations of the Francis Report make his position untenable.' Families of the victims said today he and Dr Peter Carter, chief executive of the Royal College of Nursing, must resign immediately for failing to stop it."

What, a union expressing its disgust with the management? What about its sadistic members -

"Hospital whistle-blower Julie Bailey has become the target of hate mail and death threats. Julie, 49, highlighted appalling care, abuse and blunders after her 86-year-old mother died at Stafford Hospital after a routine hernia op. A public inquiry said between 400 and 1,200 patients died needlessly at the hospital. But since setting up pressure group Cure The NHS she has been threatened, harassed and a Facebook group said the the windows of her Stafford cafe would be smashed....Shockingly, the Labour Party were forced to apologise to Ms Bailey after a video appeared on their website joking about her dying."

David Cameron has said that a Chief Inspector of Hospitals will be appointed and healthcare assistants "regulated". I have a far better idea - prosecute managers for corporate manslaughter, and doctors and nurses for murder.

  1. some of this is down to multiculturism. As well it is not only happening in the UK.
You can get casual indifference and cruelty in Australian Hospitals - been there - had that.
