The racism of the left

I've mentioned the BBC's disparaging attitude towards the English before. Modern philosopher Roger Scruton portrays this largely left-wing state of mind nicely (thanks to a Biased BBC contributor for the extract) -

”…the disposition, in any conflict, to side with ‘them’ against ‘us’, and the felt need to denigrate the customs, culture and institutions that are identifiably ‘ours’. Being the opposite of xenophobia I propose to call this state of mind oikophobia, by which I mean (stretching the Greek a little) the repudiation of inheritance and home. Oikophobia is a stage through which the adolescent mind normally passes. But it is a stage in which some people—intellectuals especially—tend to become arrested. As George Orwell pointed out, intellectuals on the Left are especially prone to it...."

Then there's left-wing antisemitism, which demands that the Jews of Israel shouldn't fire rockets back occaionally because that amounts to a holocaust -

"People have been expressing severe shock and revulsion at the ugly remarks by LibDem MP David Ward about Israel and the Holocaust....‘Having visited Auschwitz twice – once with my family and once with local schools – I am saddened that the Jews, who suffered unbelievable levels of persecution during the Holocaust, could within a few years of liberation from the death camps be inflicting atrocities on Palestinians in the new State of Israel and continue to do so on a daily basis in the West Bank and Gaza.’"

AKH was just speaking of the use of language - the propaganda is in the lexicon itself.

    1. Meaning it conditions our thoughts, like Newspeak - yes, I see. By the way, who's AKH?
